NUISANCE BONFIRES & GARDEN WASTE DISPOSAL

This is the regular annual request that you be considerate about when and where you have a bonfire.  It is not friendly to smoke out your neighbours and also you may be creating a health hazard.

It is perfectly ok to have the occasional bonfire to get rid of reasonable amounts of garden waste but a bit of thought and care about the time, the location and the weather conditions can minimise any unpleasant side effects and avoid upsetting your immediate neighbourhood!

Alternatively, if you have trouble disposing of garden waste then you can join the NFDC’s Garden Waste Scheme which is an easy, affordable way for New Forest residents to dispose of their garden waste.  Bags are collected once a fortnight and composted at a Hampshire facility.

Click here for further information or ring 023 8028 5000.

Or you can take garden waste to the local household waste recycling centre.

Click here for further information or ring 0845 603 5634.

Waste derived from commercial activity must not be burnt on site and should be disposed of through a licensed contractor/waste handler.

If bonfires are causing a nuisance then it is possible for an Abatement Order to be served upon the person responsible, owner or occupier of the premises (as appropriate) requiring the nuisance to be abated.  Failure to comply with an Abatement Notice is an offence and legal proceedings may result.

For further information about how to make a complaint

see Nuisance Bonfires on the NFDC website

or ring the Environmental Protection Section on 023 8028 5411.

PLANNING APPLICATION 17/00732: FORMER LYNDHURST PARK HOTEL SITE

The deadline for comments on the current application by PegasusLife for redevelopment of the former Lyndhurst Park Hotel site is next Tuesday, 17th October. This is a major development that will affect not only Lyndhurst but also surrounding areas. The more local residents who make their views known, for or against, to the New Forest National Park Authority the more likely it will be that the eventual decision fully reflects local opinion.

You can add your views (‘Object’, ‘Support’ or ‘Comment’) on-line by clicking here

and then selecting the <Comments> tab. You can download the application papers and see other peoples’ comments to date on the <Documents> tab.

Or write (if you’re quick) to Ms Clare Ings, New Forest National Park Authority, Town Hall, Avenue Road, Lymington SO41 9ZG
