The Minstead Flower Show Society is affiliated with the Royal Horticultural Society.
It organises an annual flower, fruit and vegetable show in the Village Hall, usually on the first Saturday in September.
The sixty-fifth Show took place on Saturday 3rd September 2016 and was another outstanding success thanks to lots of hard work by many. There were a massive 604 entries of which 166 were from 37 different children! The Hall looked spectacular and the judges yet again commented on the very high standard of all the exhibits.
The Show was opened by Janet Mitchell who is retiring from the Committee after 30 years and as Secretary since 1997 when she took over from Marcia Northcroft.
Introducing Janet, the Flower Show Society Chairman Colin Payne thanked her on behalf of the Committee for all her hard work over the years and wished her the very best for the future. The huge appreciation of the Village was evident from the warm applause from everyone present.
Janet passes on her thanks to everyone who took part in such a great village event and said it was good to see the mix of experienced and novice exhibitors.
Thanks must also go to the other members of the Committee and all those in the community who worked so hard to make the Show such a success.
This year’s show will be on Saturday 2nd September 2017
