All who live in Minstead are invited to take part in a monthly summer photo competition.

We are looking for photos of events, activities, the countryside, the scenery and the people.

The only condition is that photos should be current and of or about Minstead and that they must be taken by a Minstead resident (of any age!).

Dracula – The Vampire That Bites Back – It’s a Thriller

Junior Minstead once again wow’d a packed audience with their performance of “Dracula – The Vampire that bites back – It’s a Thriller! The event as usual received amazing support and was well attended.

Junior Minstead held two raffles over the performance nights, this year supporting two local charities: Hampshire and IOW Air Ambulance & Help for Heroes.

These two raffles helped JM raised the following:

  • £154.00 for HIOW Air Ambulance (Friday Night), and
  • £206 for Help for Heroes (Saturday Night)

New Cycle Racks

Thanks to the efforts of Councillor Richard Taylor supported by the rest of the Parish Council, four cycle racks have been installed adjacent to the Village Green for use by residents and visitors.  The racks were funded by the Sustainable Transport Solutions Fund

Men vs Food – only 1 man wins!

The Trusty Servant held its annual charity Man vs Food on November 15th. Phil and the team had prepared a whopping 32oz burger plus fries supplemented with a stomach churning vanilla milkshake.

Contestants had 1 hour to consume all. One challenger was able to complete the monster sized portion in around 30 mins. The event had a strong turn-out with all proceeds going to Charlotte’s I Believe I Can Fund Of Hope.

Village Fete 2013

Despite the inclement weather the Village Fete went ahead on Saturday 17th August as planned with lots of stalls, raffles etc provided by many village organisations and individuals in aid of the Minstead All Saints Church Fund Raising campaign. While there were fewer visitors than last year the event was enjoyed by many.

A huge vote of thanks must go to Peter Bennett and all involved in making it such a success.

Ruby Gibbons won the Junior Minstead raffle!

Village Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Show 2013

The annual Village Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Show took place in the Hall on Saturday 7th September. It was opened by the Rev Tim Selwood who also presented the Cups and Special Awards. Thanks to a lot of hard work by the Committee and lots of other helpers this year’s show was one of the best ever with a record number of entries totalling 638 of which over 200 were from young people. The exhibits and delicious teas were enjoyed by a large number of visitors both local and from further afield.

Apple Day 2013

Saturday 28th September saw a great turn out for Apple Day on the Green, in the Church and in the Pub. There were lots of fascinating stalls, an apple cake competition, Morris Dancers, Choirs, Bell Ringing, readings, a hog roast and lots, lots more. The tea tent sold out of cakes and the apple monsters paraded in style. The Church was decorated for Harvest Festival with a strong apple theme and the bells rang out with a beautiful ‘peal’. The dull morning weather turned into a lovely bright afternoon with many visitors. Many congratulations to all involved in making it such a successful event.
