HELLO AGAIN FROM THE SHOP!

A LITTLE LIGHT MUSIC JANUARY 22nd 8pm till 10 30 pm.

The acoustic trio Empty Frets will be playing at the shop again, this time during the evening (and inside!) so why not  help beat the January gloom and come along?

Sarah (ukulele) Steve, (ukulele, guitar, banjo) and Reg (bass) play a variety of songs from ballads to rock’n’roll from Fats Waller to Jesse J.

We would  love to see you. Local shop goodies in a simple ploughman’s supper will be available to buy (if wished) and  as there will be a chance to donate to local cancer charities it would be great if we could raise some monies for them as well as enjoy an evening of good music.

Please ask in the shop if you would like to know more.

 See you soon,

Jan

LOCAL CYCLING

Many thanks to all who supported last autumn’s petition to improve cycling safety for local residents.

This has resulted in positive responses from a number of authorities and organisations.

The Parish Council is hoping to organise a number of short presentations followed by a discussion at the Parish Annual Assembly in March.  More details to follow.

Please support this event which will be held in the Hall (Green Room) at 8pm on Wednesday 19th March.

Please note this in your diary, come along and join in the debate!

Bread and cheese will be provided by the Parish council and the bar will be open afterwards!

The Two Saints’ Box (in the porch) is the collecting point for donations of items for homeless men and women in our area.   This month – socks and pants.

At each Service in All Saints there will be a Retiring Collection for the month’s Charity – this month The Church Mission Society.

 TRUSTY SERVANT

Burns Night Supper will be on Saturday the 25th January with a four-course Scottish Bill O Fayre, Scottish Music and the Address to a Haggis, only £20 a head so book early to avoid disappointment.

Throughout January we are also running a Calorie Counters healthy eating menu for food and drink to try to combat some of those unwanted Christmas Calories!

Follow the action at the Trusty on Facebook!

Local History event in Lyndhurst Community Centre

7.30pm Monday 20th Jan
If you haven’t heard of Arthur Phillip who lived and farmed between Lyndhurst Park Hotel and Beechen Lane you will this year. He took First Fleet of convicts out to Australia and was the first European governor narrowly beating the French to claiming the land. Australia Day celebrates his arrival when he named Sydney on January 26.
2014 is the bicentenary of his death and celebrations in England too from Westminster to Bath and the New Forest. Come and find more about New Forest and Australia links.
See Arthur Phillips for further information.
