SATURDAY 17TH DECEMBER
CAROLS ON THE GREEN, FATHER CHRISTMAS AND THE MUMMERS!
There will be carols, mince pies and a festive tipple outside The Trusty from 6pm……and possibly even some presents!
(Parents please hand in clearly labelled presents to the Trusty by midday Sat 17th and try and keep the value under £5)
WHEN WILL HE ARRIVE?
Father Christmas’ exact arrival time will depend on reindeer flying performance and snow conditions on the day but we are assured he will be with us at approximately 6.30pm.
These events will be followed by a performance of the world famous
Minstead Mummers led by Nick Mellersh
There will be a collection in aid of the Children’s’ Society during the evening.
RESERVE YOU PLACE FOR VILLAGE CHRISTMAS LUNCH
The December Village Lunch is Tuesday 20th December – the week before Christmas and a busy time at the Trusty Servant.
We will have a table reserved for Village Christmas Lunch but the management MUST know numbers in advance.
Please contact Polly by next Friday 16th to book your place: Tel 8081 2375 or clerk@minstead.gov.uk.
The LMTMWP
This is NOT Minstead’s entry for acronym of the year 2016! It stands for the Lyndhurst/Minstead Traffic Management Working Party which is a joint group set up to evaluate the problem of local traffic congestion, particularly in Mill Lane, and come up with feasible options to improve the situation.
See lmtmwp-update-1-1 for the group’s first update report which may be of interest and our thanks go to Councillors Taylor, Bennett and Wakelin for undertaking this tricky task on our behalf.
BRITISH LEGION COLLECTION IN MINSTEAD, STONEY CROSS AND EMERY DOWN

SHOOTING ON MANOR WASTE
Just a reminder that there may be shooting taking place on Manor Waste in the coming autumn/winter months. The land south of the A31 and west of the C17 roads in the vicinity of Stonard Wood, Hart Hill and Ringwood Ford Bottom has been let to an experienced syndicate. ‘Rough shooting’ of pheasants takes place on Saturdays (9-11am) between the end of October and 31st January. All persons have a shotgun certificate and are insured members of the British Association for Shooting & Conservation (BASC). Deer control may take place throughout the year (except March) for not more than two hours after dawn, and on very occasional evenings. All stalkers have a firearms certificate, BASC cover, and are highly experienced in the safe and humane control of deer, as carried out by Forestry Commission Keepers across the New Forest.
It is hoped this information will reassure the public that shooting is managed responsibly but anyone with concerns is encouraged to contact Minstead Manor Farm (minsteadmanorfarm@hotmail.com or 023 8028 3706).
SALT/GRIT BINS
The salt/grit in the blue bins is for use only in the community on public paths, pavements and roads. It is not for use on driveways or garden paths. Most of Minstead’s bins are located where road users may be at most risk if ice forms. Anyone can use the salt to put on roads and pavements but it would be much appreciated if those who live near a blue bin can spread a bit around where it is most needed. This is not as onerous as it sounds: only one tablespoon of salt (20 grams) is sufficient to treat one square metre of road/pavement surface. Such precision is not really needed but a few shovel-fulls should normally suffice.
