TELEPHONE BOX AT NEWTOWN

The telephone box at Newtown has recently been re-painted and now that the phone has been removed the Parish Council is looking for suggestions for how it might be used to benefit the community.

If you have an idea please email us at minsteadpc@googlemail.com.

DEFIBRILLATOR

Many thanks to those who have volunteered for resuscitation training (including the use of a defibrillator).  This is likely to take place in January in the Village Hall (Green Room) and further details will be promulgated nearer the time.  Meanwhile, anyone else who wishes to be included can let us know at minsteadpc@googlemail.com at any time – there is no limit on numbers!

We are still looking for ideas for fund raising and all suggestions will be gratefully received!  Please contact us as above or speak to any Parish Councillor or the Clerk.

POTHOLE REPORTING

As mentioned in Minstead Mail, the Parish Council is acutely aware of the poor state of our roads and the increasing number of potholes and deteriorating road edges which have the potential to damage vehicles and tyres. It helps a lot if as many people as possible report these to the authorities.

You can do this by either:

  1. informing Hampshire County Council directly via http://www3.hants.gov.uk/roadproblems or
  2. by reporting it to New Forest District Council via the New Forest In Touch app which is a handy and easy to use way for reporting all sorts of problems as well as finding out information from our local council.

 ANIMAL ACCIDENTS

The Parish Council, ably assisted by our New Forest District Councillor, has looked at the number of animal accidents on the C17 following a suggestion that a sign be put up to inform drivers of how many there have been.  Over the last 7 years there have been 5 animal accidents on the C17 which is considerably less than the average across the Forest where a third of accidents occur on just three roads (B3078, B3054, B3056).  The Parish Council has concluded that at present there is not a case for a sign on the C17.

 CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL

Please have a look at FOLS Christmas Tree Festival 2015 invitation from the Friends of Lyndhurst Surgery (FOLS) and the League of Friends Fenwick (LOFF) in partnership with

St Michael and All Angels Church, Lyndhurst.

This year it is something almost entirely different with a new more flexible format with supporting entertainments and is open to all the community.  Please consider supporting these very worthwhile charities which benefit us all.
