VILLAGE FETE SATURDAY 12TH AUGUST

Fete4 Fete3

Very many thanks to all those who helped with yesterday’s Village Fete.  A lot of hard work went into making it a very successful and enjoyable day and we hope to have raised a worthwhile amount for the church tower fund and this year’s chosen charity, SSAFA.

FLOWER SHOW SATURDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER

The Minstead Flower Show Society hopes everyone has seen the schedule for this year’s show which will be held in the Hall on Saturday 2nd September.

In case you have mislaid your copy you can find it here 2017 Schedule FLOWER SHOW.  It includes an entry form which should be completed and returned to Mrs H Orman, Merrie Orchard, Football Green, Minstead  SO437FR no later than  Wednesday 30th  August 2017.  Alternatively, it can be emailed to hmorman70@gmail.com  and fees paid on the morning of the Show.

There are all sorts of classes for all ages and talents and some especially fun things for children to have a go at.

So, with less than 3 weeks to go, it is time to survey your flowers and vegs and start planning you entries!

There will also be a book stall, various raffles, tombola and of course the traditional fantastic teas!

Anything you can donate for the tombola can be handed in to the shop.

REPORT POTHOLES ON LINE

If you see a pothole or other problems and issues on roads, footpaths and verges the best way to get something done about it is to report it on line to Hampshire County Council.

This is easy to do by visiting: https://www.hants.gov.uk/transport/roadmaintenance/roadproblems.

THE GLEBE FIELD

We have been asked to promulgate the following:

“The Owners have been informed by NFDC that they will be reinstating their boundary with the Glebe Field along its entire length, without the existing pedestrian access. This is because NFDC do not want any possibility of a right of way being established over their verge between the end of Congleton Close and the Glebe Field boundary. The Owners are informed that the work will be carried out next week.”

The Parish Council has asked Minstead’s District Councillor to intervene to try to retain the customary pedestrian access.

HCC BALANCING THE BUDGET – CONSULTATION

Hampshire County Council is asking for residents’ and stakeholders’ views on high level, strategic options for balancing its budget.

Due to ongoing national austerity measures; demographic changes reflecting increases in demand for some services; and inflationary pressures, by April 2019 the County Council will be facing an anticipated budget shortfall of £140 million.  With less money available and growing demand for council services, tough decisions will need to be made about what the County Council can and cannot do in the future.

The range of options for balancing the budget can be read in an

Information Pack on HCC’s website.

Your feedback will help to inform the approach the County Council takes to balancing its budget.  Any changes to specific services will be subject to further, more detailed consultation.

You can complete the consultation on line by clicking here.

Paper copies are available from Hampshire Libraries.

The consultation closes on Monday 21st August.

BROADBAND UNIVERSAL SERVICE OBLIGATION – CONSULTATION

The Government legislated in the Digital Economy Act 2017 to enable the creation of a new broadband Universal Service Obligation (USO), giving every household and business the right to request a broadband connection at a minimum speed, up to a reasonable cost threshold – no matter where they live or work.  It is now seeking views on the specification for the USO that would be set in secondary legislation..

The consultation document and how to respond can be read by clicking here.  Both individuals and organisations are eligible to respond and should do so by 9th October 2017.

BUT PERHAPS BEST OF ALL, ENJOY OUR LOVELY FOREST……..!

Enjoy the Forest
