LITTER PICK 9TH MAY
Thank you so much to everyone from the village, McDonalds and Costa who contributed to this week’s litter pick along the C17. We were especially grateful to Costa’s very own Robin, who went far beyond the call of duty in his efforts in dealing with a large abandoned car seat and some unsavoury items!
Everyone’s help was very much appreciated, particularly Tessa Keeley who organised this event.
JUNIOR MINSTEAD SUMMER DANCE
The whole village is invited to attend a themed Summer Dance on Saturday 1st July in the Village Hall hosted by Junior Minstead. Dress will be anything from the 60s 70s 80s or 90s and tickets will be available soon from the Village Shop or Acres Down Farm Shop. More details will follow soon but if those who would like to attend could be asked to save the date that would be great.

THEFTS FROM CARS ON THE INCREASE
Hampshire Police are urging all motorists who visit the New Forest to take extra care when parking their vehicles in car parks or on the side of the road. Thieves are targeting unattended vehicles and if they see anything that could be valuable inside they are breaking in and stealing it.
So please, never leave anything valuable in your vehicle, take it all with you. And don’t hide anything under the seats or in the boot because thieves often hide and watch what you are doing and then when you’ve gone for your walk they know where you’ve “hidden” everything.
PCSO 14495 Richard Williams has left some red signs at the Village Shop that you can leave on your dashboard that say that you have left nothing valuable in your car. He also has some drawstring bags that you can use to take your possessions with you rather than leaving them in the car. If you would like any of those just email him at richard.williams@hampshire.pnn.police.uk.
FLY TIPPING
Hampshire County Council is proposing to set up a dedicated organisation to work exclusively on reducing fly tipping. This would focus on working with Police, Borough, District and City Councils and others to improve reporting and intelligence and increase prosecutions, as well as promoting ways the public can help. It is increasingly likely that anything found that has been fly tipped can be traced back to an individual or organisation who are then likely to be prosecuted and fined. Hampshire has also opened up Household Waste Recycling Centres to small and medium sized enterprises for the first time. This provides a legal and cost effective place for businesses to recycle and dispose of waste.
