QUEENS BIRTHDAY BEACON THURSDAY 21ST APRIL

It is planned to light a beacon at the top of Hilly Field to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday on 21st April.  It is hoped as many Minsteadeans as possible will attend or at least be able to see it from a suitable vantage point!

Please help by providing suitable dry material that will burn brightly (please no garden rubbish!) and by building the beacon on 20th and 21st April.

Material should be taken to Hilly Field just past the top of the road to Furzey on the left and placed within the fenced off area.  (The gate is easily opened by lifting the chain!).

For further information please contact Wilmur Biddlecombe on 07899 264263.

There will be an opportunity to continue celebrations at the Social Club afterwards.

PLEASE CARE FOR OUR VERGES!

Village verges are under attack from all sides, particularly when they are wet.

They are damaged by being driven on and over and further eroded by being parked on.

Recently some building work has resulted in this sort of damage, as has the work by two utilities through the village.

Your PC is seeking restitution work from these utilities for such damage that we can identify is theirs. This task is made more difficult if we do damage to them ourselves.

Please could we ask all local road users to care for our verges as if they were your own grass areas or lawns – do you drive on those, especially when they are wet or soft?
