ELECTIONS 2015 – HAVE YOU REGISTERED?

If you have not yet registered to vote then you have until 20th April to do so!

Registering is quick and simple – go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

The process takes less than five minutes. You need to provide your national insurance number and date of birth, so have these to hand before you log on.

Your vote matters!

Anybody without internet access should contact NFDC’s Electoral Services Team on 023 8028 5445. They can assist with registering you online, or send you a paper registration form.

All electors may apply to vote by post, or may appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf.

The deadline for applications for postal votes is 5pm on Tuesday April 21, and for proxy votes, it is 5pm on Tuesday April 28.

If you wish to stand for election see Notice Of District Elections and Notice Of Parish Elections  from the Returning Officer for details of District and Parish Elections to be held on 7th May 2015.  The deadline for submitting nomination papers is 4pm Thursday 9th April 2015.

HAMPSHIRE ALERT

As previously announced, the local monthly Beat Report for our area has been replaced by Hampshire Alert which enables you to participate in the exchange of information with Hampshire Constabulary and Neighbourhood Watch. If you live or work in Hampshire or the Isle of Wight, you are invited to register now to become a recipient of messages of information, crime alerts and witness appeals local to the area in which you live or work in a way that suits your needs and lifestyle by email, text or telephone.

Just visit https://www.hampshirealert.co.uk/pages/2736/1/Home.html and click on the REGISTER button at the top of this page to sign up.
As a registered recipient you will not only benefit from two way messaging but may also hear about positive police action in your community, help identify suspected or wanted criminals or learn about community groups, events or meetings in your area.

As a back up the Parish Council will continue to do its best to inform everyone of significant incidents in the locality as soon as possible.

Those who do not use the internet will be able to receive telephone messages about alerts which may affect them by asking someone to register their phone number on their behalf.

PLEASE NOTE: HAMPSHIRE ALERT IS NOT FOR REPORTING CRIMES OR INCIDENTS – IN AN EMERGENCY DIAL 999, OTHERWISE CONTACT HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY ON 101.

REPLACEMENT OF DRAGONS TEETH

You have probably noticed that the Forestry Commission has been replacing dragons teeth in places round the Village.  This is part of a programme of works under the New Forest Higher Level Stewardship Scheme to upgrade guttering and dragons teeth to protect the SSSI units habitats and grazing resource from the damaging impacts of unauthorised vehicles access and parking along road verges.   Further information can be seen by visiting http://www.hlsnewforest.org.uk/info/95/car_free_areas
