CPR and DEFIBRILLATOR TRAINING 13TH JULY

A further reminder that there are some places still available for Minstead parishioners on a first aid course on CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and the use of our defibrillator this Thursday 13 July from 11.00 – 12.30 in the Green Room.  If you are interested please contact Councillor Helen Bennett on 023 8081 2358 or Helen.benett160@yahoo.com.

RAGWORT

Although Ragwort (stinking willie) provides a home and food source to at least 77 insect species it is also very poisonous to horses and cattle and therefore particularly unwelcome in the New Forest.

Everyone is encouraged to pull ragwort in their area (and anywhere else they think needs it!) during the week of 17th July.  If you can’t manage it please let us know and we’ll try and get someone over to do it for you. If you are pulling it a fork helps and you are advised to wear gloves and also a hi-vis vest if you are walking along road verges.  Please dispose of it with normal garden waste or rubbish.

GLEBE FIELD

The owners of the Glebe Field wish to protect it against unlawful and unwanted use or occupation, but still allow it to be used for the benefit of the village.  To this end they will be taking action to restrict vehicular access whilst still allowing access to animals and pedestrians.  There will be arrangements in place for vehicular access should it be necessary for either animal or human emergency.

MINSTEAD HISTORY GROUP 11TH JULY

The next meeting will be in the Social Club at 8pm on Tuesday 11th July when there will be an entertaining talk by Richard Reeves about “Medieval Minstead”.

NEW OFFER FROM FLOGAS

All Flogas LPG customers who are in the Minstead Parish buying group scheme (ref: code 819) with bulk tanks, not cylinders, should receive a letter with details of a new fixed rate 2 year contract offer, in the post in the next few days. This improved offer has been negotiated by a member and it means that all members will be on the same rate and the same end date of contract. The offer (see LPG BUYING SCHEME OFFER July 2017 – Minstead Buying group) is: 30.28 ppl + Vat @ 5%, fixed for two years. All tank rental is 14.25 p per day + Vat = £13 per quarter (+ 5 % Vat) This is a reduction from the previous contract offer of two years ago!

If any member does not receive this new contract offer in the next few days, please contact Christopher Tompkins (of Flogas) on 08009176112 and quote the reference: Minstead buying group 819.This offer may be available to other parishioners who are presently with other LPG suppliers depending upon contract expiry date.

RECREATIONAL MANAGEMENT STRATEGY

Some big issues are facing the New Forest in the coming years. The organisations with the main remit for both protecting the National Park and enabling people to enjoy it need your help to:

  • provide the best recreational experience for local people and our visitors
  • protect the very thing people come to see – the spectacular, yet fragile landscape which is a haven for many rare wildlife species
  • ensure limited resources are spent wisely.

The Forestry Commission, Natural England, Hampshire County Council, New Forest District Council and the Verderers have asked the National Park Authority to lead on the consultation.

If you wish to comment on the initial draft strategy you should do so by 13th August.

To find out more and to see how to join in the debate and comment visit the NPA Website

There are still a number of roadshows but unfortunately the one in Lyndhurst was on 4th July!  See RMS Poster for these and how to request a printed survey.

CONNECT TO SUPPORT HAMPSHIRE

For those who have not already found it, the County Council have a very comprehensive website Connect to Support Hampshire which provides an online information and advice guide and directory of services for adults with care and support needs who live in Hampshire.

NEW APP FOR NEW FOREST HEALTH & LEISURE

Customers using New Forest District Council’s five health and leisure centres are benefitting from a new app.
Class bookings, swim times, centre news, and special offers are all available on the go, on the app, along with online chat, membership details, and notifications of important centre information.
The new app has many additional features and users can even social share their fitness plans with friends at the touch of a button.
