No change!

Please put your rubbish out on your normal collection day.

REPORT A ROAD PROBLEM

Although the Parish Council does its utmost to report our road problems to Hampshire County Council, the more individual people who report them the more likely they are to get fixed, though of course in these times of austerity there are no guarantees!

You can report a pothole, a tree or hedge problem, a flooding or drainage issue, a paving problem, lighting and sign issues, salt bins problems and a range of others on line by visiting:

https://www.hants.gov.uk/transport/roadmaintenance/roadproblems

If reporting a pothole do try and take a photograph and if you do we suggest you put something next to it, like a bunch of keys, to give an indication of its size and depth.

NON DWELLING BURLARY

This remains one of the most common crimes in our area.

There was a recent incident in Lyndhurst Road when some items were taken from a stable.

For advice on protecting your home and outbuildings have a look at the Hampshire Police website

Please remember that In case of a genuine emergency always call 999, otherwise ring Hampshire Constabulary on 101.  Hampshire and IoW Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111 if you wish to call anonymously.  Or you can contact one of our Beat Officers directly:

PC 20127 Steven Norris (07554 775477 steven.norris@hampshire.pnn.police.uk)

or

PCSO 14495 Richard Williams

CHANGES TO THE WAY PUBLIC NOTICES ARE PUBLISHED BY NFDC

New Forest District Council is changing the way it places statutory adverts, notably those regarding planning and related applications and road closures.  From April this year these will not be placed as at present but rather in a weekly free paper (The Hampshire Independent) distributed throughout the District via a number of outlets such as petrol stations, shops and supermarkets.   The awarded supplier is currently looking at setting up more distribution points likely to include our offices and willing Town and Parish Council facilities and the AT&T (Lymington Times) still expects to publish planning notices as a “news item”, but not as a paid “advertisement”.

This newspaper is also available on line

Click Changes to publishing NFDC public notices for further information about this change.

KEEPING IN TOUCH

We hope very much that most in the Village have been kept informed of events during the recent spell of extreme weather by following us on Facebook for local information; by visiting the NFDC website for local services; and through Hampshire Alert for road problems and other weather related  issues in the region.

We were pleased that the snow plough the PC bought some years ago has come into its own to clear our roads on Thursday and Friday last week.  Hopefully most of them remained usable with care for most of the time!

MINSTEAD MAIL

The latest edition of Minstead Mail has been distributed by hand to all households in the Parish.  It is regretted that the entry about the Christingle Service is incorrect.  This should, of course, have been called the Five Candles Service which for over 50 years has marked the beginning of Advent in Minstead.  The  service was brought to Minstead from his previous parish by Rev. Clifford Rham, who was Rector of All Saints’ from 1963 – 1970 and it is now led by Gill Gibbons who has been involved since 1967 and makes it “as near to the original as we can get it”.  We also apologise for misspelling Gill’s name.

See THE FIVE CANDLES SERVICE IN MINSTEAD for further details of the history and meaning of the Minstead Five Candles Service.

A LOAD OF RUBBISH

Everyone whose rubbish collection is on a Monday should note that for tomorrow 18th December the collection will be as normal; but that their next collection will be on Saturday 30th December; and that there will not be one on Monday 1st January!

If your collection is on Tuesday 19th December then the next one will be on Tuesday 2nd January.

For further information about collection dates for refuse and glass and for information about Christmas tree drop-offs from 2nd January visit

http://newforest.gov.uk/christmasrefuse

Bearing in mind that household waste can really increase at Christmas, from packaging and gift wrapping, to glass bottles, chocolate tins, and Christmas trees. New Forest District Council has provided advice on how to dispose of some of your extra household waste and what can be recycled.

Click Christmas Recycling in the New Forest 2017 to read this important information.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR OIL TSAR

“Each year I set out the dates throughout the following year when I will place Oil orders for those who have requested them. The purpose of this notification is so you are not caught out and miss a date when you really should have ordered oil!

All dates are Wednesdays and orders must be with me at minsteadoil@gmail.com before 9am on the relevant date.

January 10th; February 14th; March 14th; May 16th; July 18th; September 19th; October 17th; November 14th and December 5th.

In order to remove any doubt, I will NOT be ordering in April, June or August.

If you would like to see the historical list of fuel prices with Minstead Oil, please let me know. The usual caveat applies ‘Past performance is no guide to future performance’ and fuel prices will go up as well as down!!

Happy Christmas all.

Mike”
