LITTERPICK

The next litterpick is planned for this Tuesday 16th October. We will meet at 10am in Andrews Mare Car Park.

As usual, we will cover both sides of the road between the A31 and the Newtown Crossroads. McDonalds will provide the litter picking sticks and refuse bags.

Anyone is welcome but if you have any queries please email tessakeeley1@gmail.com

MINSTEAD OIL

Orders sent to Minstead Oil by 9am on Wednesday 17th October will be processed and passed to the selected company for anticipated delivery before the end of the month. Subsequent dates will be at 4-weeks intervals until December 5th. Mike will send out the dates for 2019 probably in December 2018.

MINSTEAD MAIL

We are collecting material for the next Minstead Mail and would be grateful for any contributions including details of local events over the next 3-4 months and any items of interest to Minstead residents.

As all will know Minstead Mail has been distributed for several years in hard copy to every household but we are considering whether it is worth the associated cost and effort in addition to the weekly eNewsletter and the Village website.

Please let us know now what you and your neighbours think, especially if you know someone who does not receive email.

BELL RINGERS REMEMBERED

Church bells were rung in celebration when Armistice was declared in 1918, after having been restricted during the four-year war. 1,400 bell ringers died in WW1. In remembering their sacrifice, the aim has been to recruit 1,400 new ringers this year.  Minstead has been able to make its contribution with 3 new recruits.

Hopefully they will be ringing on 11th November this year, as Big Ben strikes to mark the centenary of Armistice Day.

A note of thanks to those who live in ear-shot of the bells as the learning process proceeds. If you can’t beat them, why not join them? Anyone interested should contact Polly Osborne.

KAREN FRAMPTON

Local artist Karen Frampton is opening the doors of her art studio on 20th and 21st October 10am-5pm. She will be displaying her latest original artwork, many of local scenes. Everyone is welcome to visit and enjoy a cuppa with the artist at Woodside Cottage, Minstead SO43 7GB.
