 ACTIVITIES AT FURZEY GARDENS

23rd May: pre-school “Dress as a Fairy or Elf in the Gardens”

  Come and meet other fairies and elves dressed to impress in the Gardens; take a photo and send it in by 27th May to zak.khdir@minsteadtt.org and we will enter you into our Facebook photo competition.  The winner will win a personalised Fairy Door! Normal garden entrance donation applies.

31stMay-3rd June – Children’s Fun Half Term Activity in the Bug Barn

Plant a sunflower seed and decorate your own pot to take home to see how tall it grows. £3 (includes a drink and biscuit in the Gallery Coffee Shop).  Normal Garden entrance donation applies. Parent/Guardian supervision required.

 ADVICE FOR OWNERS OF PROPERTY ADJOINING THE OPEN FOREST

If you have recently moved into a property that adjoins the open forest then there a number of bits of advice that will enable you to help preserve the New Forest and the areas of it that are grazed by New Forest ponies and cattle.

These are summarised in a recently published New Forest National Park Authority leaflet which can be read on line by clinking here or obtained from the Village Shop or any other NPA Information Point. They include:

  • How to protect your garden
  • How you can help preserve the New Forest character
  • Information about boundaries
  • How hedges can help wildlife
  • Considerate lighting
  • How to help keeping ponies healthy (e.g. do not feed them!)
  • The need to protect verges and parking with care
  • Cesspit and septic tank maintenance
  • Contact details for all the various organisations from which you can obtain further information
