MINSTEAD COMMUNITY SHOP SHARES ISSUE

We’re getting close to the target!

We have £21,175 in share purchases from 51 individuals and we have pledges for another £2,500.

Many, many thanks to all those generous people and also to those organising fund raising events (see below)!

So we need about £1,500 more but we need at least twice the number of members. So, if you think the shop is a good idea then sign up by the deadline on Monday and let’s make it happen!

TO PURCHASE SHARES

All households in the Village should have received a printed flyer asking for support. To see this, find out more and to read our updated “Frequently Asked Questions” please visit the Community Shop webpage on the Minstead website (www:/minstead.org.uk/village-community-shop-project/)

Click HERE to see the Share Offer and Application Form.

If you have any queries not answered by these documents please contact the committee through our email: minsteadcommunityshop@gmail.com.

MINSTEAD PLAYERS – CALLING ALL THESPIANS!

Minstead players are looking for budding actors who would like to have a go at treading the boards. This year we are doing 4 very short plays under the heading of Confusions by Alan Ayckbourn.

There must be someone out there who would like to play a grumpy man who wants to be watching the football not treated like a child by his neighbour or perhaps be a business man who is so wrapped in his work that he has no idea that his wife has been on holiday with another man and that he knows the other man well!

Rehearsals are on Tuesdays and Fridays mainly with Thursday on some weeks. Each playlet will be rehearsed separately so you will not be expected to be there is your play is not being rehearsed. The performance dates are 17th and 18th January 2020. You will need to be available for the technical rehearsal which is Saturday 11th January 2020.

Please contact Helen Bennett on 07804046122 or helen.bennett160@yahoo.com

BUILDING SKILLS COURSES FOR RESIDENTS

The New Forest National Park Authority and local buildings expert Kevin Stubbs are delivering a series of evening talks for homeowners in the New Forest.

The talks are part of the Building Skills project, one of 21 projects being delivered through the Our Past, Our Future Landscape Partnership Scheme. The project is informing local people of the importance of traditional buildings to the area’s character whilst providing knowledge of specialist repair techniques. This information is helping conserve and enhance the local distinctiveness of the settlements within the Forest as they raise awareness and encourage sensitive repair and management.

The series of evening talks begins in November on Wednesday evenings in Brockenhurst Village Hall. The subjects that will be covered are as follows:

  • Local heritage of New Forest homes Wednesday 6 November, 7pm – 9.30pm.
  • New Forest cob, thatch, flint and stone Wednesday 20 November, 7pm – 9.30pm.
  • New Forest brick, mortar, plasters and renders Wednesday 4 December, 7pm – 9.30pm.
  • New Forest timber framed buildings and timber roof structure Wednesday 15 January, 7pm – 9.30pm.
  • New Forest tile, slate and lead roof coverings Wednesday 29 January, 7pm – 9.30pm.
  • New Forest building details and finishes Wednesday 12 February, 7pm – 9.30pm.

If you would like to attend one or more of these evenings, please visit our training webpage to book your place: www.newforestnpa.gov.uk/conservation/landscape-partnership/training/ . The cost of a ticket is £5 per person, and you can buy a ticket for all six evenings for £25. If you would like more information, please contact Richard Austin (Richard.austin@newforestnpa.gov.uk or 01590 664661)
